STEAMtank at ASU Innnovation Space
As a participant in the InnovationSpace’s STEAMtank course at Arizona State University, my team, Electric City, embarked on the exciting challenge of crafting a captivating children’s museum exhibit centered around the intricacies of electricity generation. In my role, I actively contributed to the conceptualization, design, and branding aspects of our project.

Development
The development process for Electric City’s initial planning commenced with multiple iterations in Adobe Photoshop, aiming to explore conceptual possibilities and assess the project’s feasibility. Starting with the base design proposed months earlier, I embarked on a journey to simplify and redesign the initial concept. Opting for a circular design that would be visible from all angles, I strategically divided the space into easily viewable “zones” for children.
3D Prototyping
As a team, one of our early challenges was streamlining the games within each zone, a task that primarily fell to our engineering counterparts. This prompted a shift in focus for the design team, redirecting our efforts towards crafting a cohesive visual identity that would enhance the overall impact of our exhibit. Despite the initial hurdle, this collaborative approach ultimately contributed to a more integrated and engaging experience for the exhibit’s young audience. I used Autodesk Maya to prototype and test our first design.
Construction & Opening
Our exhibit went beyond being visually stunning; it aimed to provide an interactive and educational journey for young minds. We wanted to spark curiosity and inspire a fascination for STEM subjects. The STEAMtank course not only equipped us with technical skills but also emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in driving innovation.
